Consecratio Gladii Noctis.

(The Consecration of the Blade of Night)

Purpose:

To awaken and bind the ritual blade to the practitioner's sovereign soul and the Black Current of Shadow.
The blade becomes not merely a tool, but an extension of Will — an instrument of severance, feeding, and sacred warfare.

Prerequisites:

  • Blade of black iron, steel, or obsidian — new or ritually purified (never used for mundane tasks)

  • Blood of the practitioner (a few drops)

  • Chalice of black wine (or symbolic dark liquid)

  • Black candle (only one)

  • An altar stone or black cloth

  • Incense of storax and myrrh combined

Ritual Steps:

Stage I: Preparation

  • Conducted at night — preferably the night of a new moon or waning crescent.

  • Practitioner wears black and remains barefoot.

  • Silence must be maintained from the moment of preparation until the rite’s end.

Setup:

  • Black candle lit at the centre of the altar.

  • Blade laid across the altar, point facing east.

  • Chalice placed beside the blade.

  • Incense burning heavily.

Stage II: Awakening of the Blade.

Action:
Practitioner holds the blade aloft in both hands, standing tall, eyes focused on the blade’s edge.
A few drops of blood are placed onto the blade's fuller or spine (not the edge).

Speak aloud, slowly, gravely:

"Surge, ferrum silentii, ex profundo noctis.

Vivifica, anima abscondita, hoc corpus mortuum.

Fiam gladius tuus, et tu fies gladius meus.

Unus spiritus, unum propositum, unum imperium.

Sanguine meo te ligo; in umbra mea te custodio; in aeternitate mea te sustento."

English Translation:

"Rise, blade of silence, from the depths of night.

Be quickened, hidden soul, within this dead body.

I shall become your sword, and you shall become my sword.

One spirit, one purpose, one dominion.

With my blood I bind you; within my shadow I guard you; through my eternity I sustain you."

Stage III: Binding with the Current.

Action:
The practitioner lowers the blade over the chalice of black wine, allowing a single drop of blood from the blade (or anointing with a drop from the practitioner's hand) to fall into the chalice.

Visualize:
The black liquid devours the blood — sealing the pact.

Speak in Latin, commanding but solemn:

"Esto ferrum famis.
Esto ensis transitus.
Esto vox silentii inter vivos et absconditos.

In nomine Noctis Aeternae, signum accipe."

English Translation:

"Become the blade of hunger.
Become the sword of crossing.
Become the voice of silence between the living and the hidden.

In the name of the Eternal Night, receive the sign."

Stage IV: Final Anointing and Sealing.

Action:
Practitioner passes the blade three times through the smoke of the incense.
Then, anoints the hilt (or grip) with blood and wine combined.

Final Latin sealing words, whispered:

"Sigillum perpetuum pono super hoc ferrum.
Non tradetur nisi per voluntatem meam.
Non frangetur nisi per finem meum.

Ita fiat."

English Translation:

"I place the perpetual seal upon this blade.
It shall not be surrendered except by my will.
It shall not be broken except by my end.

So let it be."

Closing the Consecration:

  • Blade is immediately wrapped in black cloth when not in use.

  • Never used for mundane purposes, never displayed openly.

  • It is a sovereign tool, a part of the Self.

Failure to maintain reverence may sever its bond to the practitioner, rendering it inert or — in worse cases — haunted by foreign currents.

Notes on Ritual Bearing:

  • Tone:
Each word is to be treated like a command to the very marrow of the world.

  • Movement:
Every action is to be slow, elegant, deliberate.

  • Mindset:
Practitioner must feel themselves neither supplicant nor petitioner — but sovereign giving rise to their weapon as king or queen would anoint their blade for battle.

NOTE: The images featured within this article do not depict the Consecrated Dagger described in the Ritus Magna or its accompanying rites. They are selections from my personal collection, provided solely for visual and aesthetic enhancement. The true blade remains unseen and unphotographed, as befits its sacred nature.

Ancient Maxim:

"Non servit ferrum timidis."
("The blade does not serve the fearful.")
